A Writing Initiation

I see you. The poets, the aspiring authors, Substack philosophers, visionary dreamers, and creative mystics. The world needs what you have to share.

Poetry is one of the most enduring forms of human creation and connection. Being a poet is about more than talent. It's a way of seeing the world, of living with an open mind and heart, or staying sensitive to life's beauty, even in the darkest moments.

Modern society isn't designed to nurture this state of being. Even universities and publishers tend to push writers inside a box. The path of the mystic poet is unpaved, with no street signs to guide us.

Mystic Poets Society is an inclusive initiation for writers who want to deepen their practice, refine their craft, expand their consciousness, and share their work with the world.

Where Craft Meets Consciousness

Writing is 50% craft and 50% intuition. Just as important as form and technique is the ability to access the subconscious space where ideas come from.

Without intuition, your work will be shallow. Without craft, your work won't land.

What We Believe

1. Creativity Is Human Nature

Everyone is born an artist, but society distracts us from our creative calling. Anything you can imagine and bring to life is a form of art.

2. Intuition Is a Portal

Creativity is a mindfulness practice and relationship with source. We are channels for inspiration. The best ideas come from slowing down the busy mind and listening to the muse.

3. Talent Is Overrated

Writing and making art shouldn't be a talent show, but a sacred path of emotional catharsis and self-actualization. Finding your iconic voice is about authentic expression and committing to your craft.

4. Community Is Essential

In an increasingly digital, divided world, people are starving for connection. We need places where we feel safe to share and be seen as our real, imperfect selves.

My Poetry Journey

I started writing poetry at age 14. By the end of high school, I had a stack of notebooks filled with poetry that nobody would ever read.

I stopped writing for years while chasing career success. After feeling stuck in my advertising job, poetry saved my life. I started writing again, and got a few poems published in literary journals, which eventually led to book deals and over 500,000 Instagram followers.

Recently, my poem Instructions Before Visiting Earth went surprisingly viral, being consumed by over 100 million people and translated into several languages.

Now I teach poetry, host open mics, and give talks about creativity around the world.

The most important decision on this journey was making a commitment to the craft of writing.

Is This Class for Me?

Writers of all backgrounds and levels of experience are welcome. Whether you are a published author or just getting started, this is a safe container to experiment, explore and connect. It's not a talent show. The only prerequisite is a willingness to trust yourself and venture outside your comfort zone.

While many forms of writing will be covered, the thematic center is mystic poetry, which involves channeling the muse through mindfulness and somatic sensitivity. All styles of expression are welcome and encouraged.
